Dentures

Dentures are prosthetic dental teeth restorations that help restore an incomplete smile and improve your dental health.

What are dentures?

Dentures are teeth replacement remedies for missing or broken teeth. Dentures can either be removable or implant-supported and full or partial.

How do dentures work?

Your dentures are designed to rest on the jawbones serving as replacement teeth. They consist on an acrylic base that would rest over the gums where teeth are missing. Dentures can be made to suit your unique needs (custom-made)

Conventional Full Dentures

Full dentures are placed in your mouth after removal of the remaining teeth. They are placed over the gums only after tissues have been healed.

Immediate Full Dentures

Immediate full dentures serve the same purpose, but are placed immediately after teeth are removed. Patients can be assured that they won't have to be toothless when it comes to immediate dentures.

Partial Denture

These dentures would rest on a metal framework that'd attach itself to your natural teeth. These dentures may use crowns as anchors. Partial dentures can be an alternative to bridges.

How Are Dentures Made?

Dentures are designed to suit your unique dental needs. As your dentist confirms that dentures are the best type of dental appliance, the steps involved in preparing your dentures involve the below:

  • Taking impressions and measurements of the jaw to understand how they relate to one another
  • A wax model would be prepared that closely matches the impressions. It would be assessed for color, shape, and fit before casting the final denture
  • The final wax model would be sent to the lab where they would be cast
  • Necessary adjustments would be made while fitting dentures in place

Taking Care Of Your Dentures

Patients can ensure to keep their dentures healthy and functioning by following these easy steps:

  • Regular brushing and flossing
  • Rinsing the mouth with an antibacterial mouthwash
  • Paying regular visits to the dentist's office
