Have you been visiting your dentist regularly for periodic consultations? If so, that's great! If not, you could be putting yourself in inevitable trouble that is just lurking around the corner. In fact, every dollar you spend on dental care could be the best and most worthy investment you make with it.
Do you brush and floss your teeth twice everyday? We recommend these healthy oral habits to keep the growth of microbes in the mouth to a minimum. But, sometimes the microbes get left behind on the teeth in the 'difficult-to-reach' corners. Over time, the accumulation of microbes could intensify so much that they could form dark patches on the teeth, called tartar. Tartar is highly harmful to the teeth as it is known to result in cavities and gum diseases.
When you visit our practice for regular consultations, removing the plaque and tartar deposits is one of the basic treatment procedures that we take you through. To do this, we use a hand-held ultrasonic scaling device. The metal tip of the device vibrates at ultrasonic frequencies, which allow it to dislodge the tartar deposits easily. A jet of water is used along with it to wash away the debris, leaving you with whiter and healthier teeth.
Deep cleaning or root planing, in simple words, is scaling performed on the root surfaces. Patients who have a loose gum line end up getting a lot of food debris deposited in the gum pockets. Over time, microbes start feeding on the debris and release harmful acids in the process. This could result in the formation of cavities or even the deterioration of the root structure. Hence, we would perform root planing to remove tartar from the root surfaces, smoothen them out to avoid tartar deposition, and also clear the gum pockets of the debris and microbes. This procedure is known to provide significant relief from gum diseases such as gingivitis and periodontitis.
Preventing an oral infection even before it takes a toll on your oral health is the sole purpose of preventive dentistry. We offer treatment procedures such as fluoride treatment, dental sealants, oral cleaning, etc. These procedures also save you a lot of money at they reduce the occurrence of oral complications, which means you wouldn't have to spend money on getting them treated.
When you start visiting your family dentist for regular consultations, it allows them to maintain a well-updated record of your oral health. This could prove to be helpful when you develop any oral infections in the future as treating it becomes easier. Also, the dentist may provide you with certain discounts for the procedures based on mutual understanding.
So, why wait? Reach out to us right away and we can discuss further about having a consultation at our practice.
